At what point does a person who is selling a gun required to have a firearms dealer license? Let say I have a gun I want to sell, I do not need such a license. However if I wish to buy and sell guns on a regular basis, I imagine I would need such a license. What defines exactly when a person needs or does not need to have a firearms dealer license to sell guns?
Thanks

You cannot be in the business of selling firearms without a FFL. For instance, I own about 35 firearms. I have acquired them over the past 10 years. If I sell them all off, I need no license, as they are from my personal collection. Just as if I were selling my beanie baby collection, I would not be labeled a beanie baby dealer, just a collector getting rid of my collection. However, if I start buying guns and selling them for profit, it would be logical to say I am dealing in the business of gun sales.
Now, state laws vary. Some of the more commie states may have a ban on private sales. As far as I know, there are no states that ban private sales, but I’ve never lived in CA, MA, etc., so I can’t say for sure.
The first answerer really had no clue what she was talking about. Why do some people feel the need to chime in when they are completely ignorant on a topic?
whenever you sell a gun-you need a license -period. or you need to find a person with a license and have that person sell guns to the clients you find.
you cannot just sell a gun to anyone, and you can’t sell without a license or licensed person carrying out the transaction. unless of course, you do it illegally.
