You do not want to get caught by LE with a handgun illegally in your possession since you're over 18 and it won't be a Juvenile Offence. If your Record is clean now, you want to keep it that way. Three years seems like a long time to wait but it will be worth it. Don't forget that the Cops like to run plates at random and if you have a Record for a Weapons Offence, that's an invitation to spot checks for years to come. You can also openly carry at 18 and over but can't be in motor vehicle while doing so and can't be on school grounds or federal/state building or in a city of first class [Philadelphia].
