Lots of good companies, I prefer RUGER and Weatherby…..Deer Head soup….yum!
What are you hunting? What is your price range? Are you left handed? Where do you hunt?
a good hunter could harvest deer with a shovel. More likely by digging a big hole than hitting them with it. Get something you can afford to shoot.
The best are bespoke guns made to your order and fitted to you personally. The price range for most of them runs about $3500 to $120,000. You can do almost as well for a heck of a lot less, but you’ll have to start by defining exactly what you plan to do with the rifle.
Mount a Big Bear trap to a tree sturdily with heavy bolts about 4 to 5 feet off the ground, insert a wooden dowel into the tree above trap with a string that’s dangling a salt lick right in front of the trap tab….. Bammmmm Deer head soup
browning makes good ones, better than savage or mossburg or remington or ruger. the 3006 or 308 will take care of most any big game animal in north america. elk bear moose ect

In my opinion, the best are in order CZ, Browning, Ruger, Weatherby, Remington, Winchester, Savage. These are the companies I have experience with. If you are in the market for a new hunting rifle, you have to look at a cz550. I didn’t include sako or tikka simply because I don’t have enough experience with them. They have a heck of a reputation though. This was for bolt action. Marlin makes a heck of a lever action, and the old Savage 99′s are pretty good too.
