Question about a sealed record and firearm rights?

As a juvenile, I was charged with assault in the 4th degree. It was a misdemeanor charge. I plead guilty, and a part of the plea bargain told me that I gave up my rights to possess a firearm for life, unless I decide to take it back to court. I was 13 at the time of the charge, and I will be turning 23 years old this year.

I had my record expunged.

I went to purchase a pistol, and I explained to the gun store that I lost my right to own a firearm, and that I have an expunged record, and they said it would come up on the background report if I’m ineligible. Well, nothing came back, and I got my pistol.

I even applied for my CPL (Concealed Pistol License) and explained the same thing to the police department. They said if it’s expunged, then I don’t have a record. They did the fingerprint check, and nothing came up at all. They explained that even though I had my right taken away, that considering how my record is expunged, they can’t access the info, and they granted me my license.

I even called the FBI, and they told me the same story.

Basically, my question is, did having my juvenile record expunged restore my rights? No one gave me a clear answer. They just said that I’m NOT ineligible to own a pistol or a license to carry one.

I just got the application to get this license. if i am only going to sell to(or buy) for family and friends that have the right to own a gun (no criminals,) will this permit allow it? the main reason i want one is to buy old war rifles and ammo for them cheap for myself, but i have others i know that have old rifles that would love to get ammo for them cheap. any input would be great…. also, for an FFL, would i have to sell them to others, like buy guns and sell them to those that can legally own them in order to have one? i would love to just get them online for myself, but i’m not sure if that is allowed.

The minimum age to obtain a concealed handgun license in the state of Texas is 21.
The minimum age to obtain a concealed handgun license in the state of South Dakota is 18.

Does reciprocity between Texas and South Dakota permit citizens with a C.H.L. from South Dakota to carry a concealed handgun in Texas if he or she is 18?

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety:

"September 6, 2005
South Dakota
Note: Effective immediately, Governor Perry has issued a proclamation that allows persons with concealed handgun licenses from South Dakota to legally carry in Texas. South Dakota residents will be required to follow Texas law while carrying in this state. This has the effect of reciprocity between Texas and South Dakota since South Dakota law recognizes valid licenses issued from other states including Texas."

C&R license with an automatic WWII weapon?

Ok so I’m thinking about getting a C&R license (Curious & Relics) for old firearms. I did some thinking, would I be able to get say, a vietnam era M16 (fullauto) with a C&R or would I still be required to get it through an FFL? I don’t think the A1s are 50+ y/o yet but when they are which route could/would I have to take?
Also id like to appologize, my question had nothing to do with WWII weapons like the main line suggested. Thought it would be nice to own one.

Concealed pistol licenses?

My question is, if you have a concealed pistol license issued by the state, can you carry it on Federal property if in the same state? For example, the U.S. Post Office is considered Federal property. Would they honor your license as long as it’s still technically in the state?

I am a registered sex offender. I was charged with a felony, but i took a plea to a high misdemeanor. I also have a unlawful use of a financial device felony. My girlfriend wants to get a Carrying Concealed Weapon License (CCW) state of Florida. Is this possible? I know that I cant get a license, but can she have a firearm in the house without me getting into any trouble? Her rights should not be removed because she lives with me right? I shouldnt get in trouble because she has a firearm in the house for protection right? If someone breaks in the home and I fire the weapon in self defense of myself and our family will i get in trouble?

So what your saying, is that if we are asleep, and if me and my child are in the house and the wife is not home, and someone breaks in, i must sit there and take a chance on whatever happens? I cannot fire the weapon in self defense of me and my child because of my record? So if they raise a weapon at me and fire, i cant return fire?
Paul, we want a weapon in the house for protection in the house only. Does she need a CCW for that, or is it another license, or do you even need a license? Can she just buy a gun for home protection? Does it matter if its a handgun or rifle? Preferably a handgun for ease of use. She doesnt want to carry the gun on her at all. Where we live we would feel more safer with a gun in the home locked in a gun safe.
I think its really dumb that if your felony is not a violent crime you cant get a weapon, what does credit card fraud have to do with a gun? My sexual assault charge was reduced to a misdemeanor so its not a felony

Concealed Carry on College Campus?

My liberal government professor was really affraid today because in our State of Texas, legislation was purposed to allow students conceal carry firearms. She failed to mention that you still need a license and made it sound like shootings would become more common. Lets just think about this and use common sense. This legislation doesn’t change the fact that if you shoot someone you will go to prison for a very long time (30 years?) and if you kill someone (collateral damage) in a shoot out even if your shoot at a bad guy and hit someone else on accident; you can face the death penalty or prison. Now with this being said is it a bad idea to let students with concealed carry licenses bring their weapons to college classes. I’d love the opportunity because it seems like gun free zones are just asking for trouble because there really isn’t a lot stopping someone from bringing a gun into those zones with many unarmed people who follow the law.
