In Utah students (age 18+) can openly carry firearms on college campuses and licensed concealed permit holders can legally conceal loaded weapons on campus.

Wouldn’t you expect there to be lots of people being killed in that kind of a "wild west" environment? Wouldn’t you expect lots of people to shoot each other over simple misunderstandings?

Isn’t that what the anti-gun people always envision?

Based on the arguments used by anti-gun people, wouldn’t you expect lots of shootings and homicides in Utah, Vermont, and Alaska?
Have you noticed that just because the "government passes a law", criminals don’t run out and try to obey it?

Guns were banned for everyone that wasn’t law enforcement in DC for years. They had more shootings per capita than any other city.

So why dont Americans stand up and support the legalization of CONCEALED carry by LICENSED individuals on COLLEGE campuses ??

I have heard arguments about "students not being trained, and how they are incompetent", but that is a bunch of crap !!

These students with Concealed Handgun Licenses already carry at Malls, Banks, Grocery Stores, Businesses, Offices, etc. Why cant they also carry on their college campus ?

They have already passed the background checks/tests/classes to carry a firearm. Why not allow them to carry on campus ?

Shooters are targeting Colleges, Highschools & Churches. These places are "Gun Free Zones". Now law abiding citizens are defenseless against these attacks due to restrictions.

Why not support this action ??

There is a great debate going on with this right now throughout the state, and I just wanted to know your thoughts. Here’s some of the text….

Sec. 411.2031. CARRYING OF HANDGUNS BY LICENSE HOLDERS ON
CERTAIN CAMPUSES. (a) For purposes of this section, "institution
of higher education" and "private or independent institution of
higher education" have the meanings assigned by Section 61.003,
Education Code.
(b) A license holder may carry a concealed handgun on or
about the license holder’s person while the license holder is on the
campus of an institution of higher education or private or
independent institution of higher education in this state.
(c) An institution of higher education or private or
independent institution of higher education in this state may not
adopt any rule, regulation, or other provision prohibiting license
holders from carrying handguns on the campus of the institution.
(d) An institution of higher education or private or
independent institution of higher education in this state may
establish rules, regulations, or other provisions concerning the
storage of handguns in dormitories or other residential buildings
that are owned or operated by the institution and located on the
campus of the institution.
