I was placed on probation when I was 21 for possession of a firearm without a license to carry. The gun was registered in my name but the only thing I didn’t have a license. Someone called 911 stating that I looked suspicious because I was digging in my pocket. I was walking to my father’s house to leave the gun there. Before I could reach his house, a police officer ran up to me with his hand on his gun telling me to put my hands up. I felt like he didn’t have a justified reason to search me and he treated me unfairly. I was eventually charged with a misdemenaor and placed on 5 yrs probation. I’m trying to figure out if I could get off probation early and I need to get my record expunged. But I still have like 3 yrs to serve, but I can not find a good job and need help and answers

nope…being that you were sentenced to probation for a period of more than 3 years means you get the lifetime ban for handgun ownership. some states will allow you to get a handgun if it has been like 20-30 years since the offense and you are over like 60 or something like that.
typically arrests that did not lead to prosecution can be expunged but not convictions. convictions can only be undone by a pardon by the Governor of the state of conviction.
It depends on the state and typically you can get off probation early with your PO and Judge’s approval if you meet all of the terms and conditions set fourth. You shouldn’t lose your gun rights over this misdemeanor. The police cannot search you without reasonable cause. If you had a good lawyer and could prove that the search was unreasonable all charges would have been dismissed.
