Ok thanks for the answers. The reason I asked this was because I ordered a Socom II online and I was wondering if they were going to ship it to my house and I heard you needed an FFL for that which was obliviously wrong.

Well, where in the world are you? This will help us greatly in understanding your question
yes
No
Nope.. you have an LTC… or a high-capacity permit (different states call them different names).
FFL is a Federal Firearms License.. given to dealers and gunstores to sell guns and ammo. Different permit.
any one can buy a semiautomatic they are completely legal
if i had enough money i could get a whole armory full or ar-15′s
you only need a license for a fully automatic one
Uh, no. I can buy semiautomatic rifles, too, and the license I use (for identification at the time of purchase) is a driver’s license. You may live in one of those oddball places that require some special firearms ID, but that’s a state issue, not a federal license. An FFL isn’t about buying firearms; it’s more like a federally mandated business license for those who sell them as a business (the occasional private sale of a firearm doesn’t require federal licensure, either).
Semi-auto, assault rifle? OK!? In the great state of Missouri all you need is a drivers license. Takes about three minuets to fill out the paper work, and you are on your way home with your brand new semi-auto rifle. You also don’t need some goofy license to buy ammo. Dunno what the h$ll that is all about.
No. The Federal Firearms License is what allows you to sell retail firearms as a store owner.
IF being shipped, it MUST be RECEIVED by a FFL holder, who then turns it over to you after the necessary paperwork.
I don’t know WHAT you have, as I have never heard of any "license" being required to BUY a weapon unless it was a "restricted" weapon.
