Here in Colorado, no permit is required to own a gun (except full-auto, of course). You just have to be old enough and pass the instant background checks.
A concealed handgun permit costs about $150, which covers the permit, application, fingerprinting, photo, and CBI background check. They are good for 5 years.

Rifles & Shotguns – no such thing as a permit so I guess free
No permit here in Montana for firearms. I don’t know anyone personally who owns an assault rifle. I believe you would have to jump through some federal hoops to own one of them.
Don’t need a permit to buy any gun in my state except the federal ones for full autos and what not.

Last I knew it was $20 for hunters safety course. But that was years ago.
Long guns, nothing. Handguns, 5 dollars, but that also helps me get a long gun quicker so I don’t mind.
Umm… In Colorado I belive that the only gun permit you have to buy is for full autos. Where are you (what State)?
I am not required by Wyoming to get a permit to own a gun of any kind, except a full auto one. I paid zero fees for my 43 rifles, shotguns, and handguns.
