    Your safest bet is to have your NY base range official take you through the process, they would be aware of all specifics. Also check into transporting and PA laws since you will at some time commute and may "forget" about your handgun.

    Even though you are military (yes, training is waived) you may still not be granted to carry because some states require you to have what they consider a sound reason. Concealed permits are not as easy as they used to be.

    Training is really not required – or every retired and discharged member of the armed forces would be marching around carrying weapons. The purpose of getting a permit to carry arms on your person is to prove that you are in charge of property or persons who must be guarded. Occupations include: Bank Cash Courier or gold or jewelry delivery, Bearer Bonds delivery – Private Investigators, Night Club Guards, Security Officers – Body Guards, etc.
