I have no conceal carry license in MN.
I would be transporting the firearm, unloaded, and in a case in my trunk.
The ammunition would be stored in a different bag in the trunk.
When at the hotel, the pistol, unloaded, no ammunition present, would be stored in the case, in my hotel safe.

Am I good?

shipping a firearm in the same state?

Saturday, 4. September 2010

I have sold a firearm to Mr X who lives in the same state, Florida.
He wants me to send it to his home address, Mr X will supply a copy of his drivers license and Concealed Weapons Permit.
Is this legal? Or do I still have to send it to an FFL.
We are in Florida.
Thanks for your time.

How do you guys feel about an officer asking our soldiers to register their personal arms?

Thursday, 2. September 2010

Down in Kentucky, an officer asked the men under his command to submit the serial numbers and location of all personal firearms, and if they have a concealed carry permit, the issuing State and license number. How’s that grab you? I gotta say, it ticks me right the heck off! You guys kick butt!

Can I KILL someone if….?

Tuesday, 31. August 2010

So I live in Alaska, and while I tried to look it up I’m still unsure. What acts against me or my property justify my legal ability to use deadly force via gun of some sort to kill.

If someone comes on to my property with a weapon and threatens me and I warn them to leave a few times, and I feel my life or my family is in danger, even though the person has made no clear effort to carry out their threats (not aiming at me or anything, just not leaving and still threatening me)
-
Can I then open fire?
-

I heard if my personal property was threatened to be stolen that I could also use deadly force.

-

So what exactly does someone have to do for me to be able to legally defend myself or my family using lethal force? In Alaska.

I figured it might be a little different than other states… I mean… we can conceal firearms without a license… I’d guess with probable reason.

Can a British citizen own and carry a gun if they live in Vermont Usa?

Wednesday, 25. August 2010

I heard that in Vermont you can buy and carry a gun without a permit (probably why its so safe compared to other states in the area) and when im older i wan to live in the Usa after leaving college, traveling, and joining the British air force, the RAF, however if i choose Vermont to live in the USA will i be subject to those same great laws which allow people to carry concealed firearms without a added license??

And which other states??

Reason being is because if i’m former military i would like to spend the rest of my life when i leave safe in the knowledge that even when ive left the air force i still own and carry a Browning Hi-Power (not possible in most european countries with notable exception of cyprus).

Thankyou for taking the time to answer my question.

Would you feel safer knowing that your child attended a school run by teachers carrying concealed weapons?

Monday, 23. August 2010

An Oregon high school teacher wants to be able to pack heat due to a restraining order against an ex-husband, who has allegedly made threats to her and her children.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20070918/ts_csm/aselfdefense

If I were a parent, I could see it a lot of ways. The teacher has a right to defend herself against her potentially violent ex-husband. The teacher also has a right to defend herself against potentially violent students (at least at the high school I attended). But I can also see the concern of students attempting to steal the pistol from her (although I acknowledge it’s not as likely if she has a license, and presuming that she would keep it on her at all times).

I mean, I can understand the school’s policy of not wanting ANYONE who isn’t a law enforcement officer to bring firearms on campus. But I also can’t say that if I were the teacher that I would entrust school security to respond appropriately to my safety or that of my children and students.

Thoughts?
pusherhombre:

Excellent point. It reminds me of the scene in "Dr. Strangelove" where the Doomsday Machine is supposed to deter a world war by destroying the planet, except nobody knows about it.
I am not familiar with concealed-carry licenses, but can I assume that anybody with said license knows how to properly use the weapon and has been determined to be of sound mind and judgment?

I don’t think the article pointed out what subject she teaches, but it might be a good opportunity for a civics lesson in the value of constitutional rights and as (hopefully, but we will see) an example that not all gun owners are dangerous.
Yes, I can see security guards with nonlethal weapons would be an ideal situation. But if I had a potentially violent ex, I would not take my chances.

And if my concern for my safety caused parents to pull their children from my classes, that is their right. And if poor enrollment and low funding caused my supervisors to terminate my position, that is their right. Just as it is my right to change schools or find a job that suits me better.
All great answers. I suppose I feel that the teacher should be given a leave of absence until this situation is dealt with appropriately, as in this case her personal life is absolutely affecting her ability to perform her job effectively if she feels threatened enough to want to bring a gun to a classroom.

Reassignment will only shift the threat to another school or district, and her ex-husband WILL find out easily. That can’t be the solution.

In a lot of ways, I agree that you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. Taking into account the hundreds of teachers I have known and the thousands of students I have know, I would MUCH rather that a teacher possess a gun than a student any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

If you have a valid gun carry permit in TN, are you able to carry your weapon in Indiana?

Saturday, 21. August 2010

I am planning on on taking a trip to Indiana for a trade that involves a fair amount of money, and I was wondering about protection. The money must be on my person (in cash, not in check form), and I am feeling a bit apprehensive about carrying an amount this large without any protection. I was wondering if my bodyguard is legally able to carry a concealed (on non-concealed) handgun on his person in Indiana. He has a valid carry permit in Tennessee, but I am not sure if that carries over to Indiana.

My question summed up; can my bodyguard, who has a valid license to carry concealed firearms (TN), carry a weapon for personal protection in the state of Indiana?

Thanks!
Haha, no, there isn’t anything to worry about. I’m buying a car, but I want to pay in cash so I don’t have to wait for my check to clear in order to obtain the title.

Question about carrying a concealed firearm in Massacusetts…?

Friday, 20. August 2010

I just got word from my local police station that I have been approved for a Class A (unrestricted) LTC. I’m pretty sure I understand how that different licenses work, but before I go out and purchase my first handgun, I want to make sure I don’t do something I’m not allowed to do. As far as I can tell, the Class A (unrestricted) means that I can legally carry a concealed firearm in MA. Am I correct in my interpretation of the law?
Stiggy-
Really dude?
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Thanks to Stiggy we have now established that someone needs a license to carry a firearm…awesome.
Again, my question was whether or not a Class A unrestricted firearms license legally entitles someone to carry a concealed weapon in MA.
Thanks
