yeah, i live in newbedford MA and im 13 and i asked my dad too see if i could get a bb gun and he said yeah and we are going to go get a mini uzi bb gun at walmart.

oh yeah and im going to bring it to my nanas in dartmouth
to shoot tin cans or soda cans.
and there is tons and tons of land away from houses so i dont hit anything.

No 18, get your Dad/Mom/Uncle/Big Bro/Nana to go into Wal-Mart with you.
They have pretty good prices (better than Big 5) also check out a .177 pellet gun they are more accurate and powerful enough to kill small varmits around the property tell your Nana you will protect her garden from critters if she pays for a pellet gun (trust me a pellet gun will shoot a lot farther too!)
I had a Daisy Powerline .177 Pellet/BB gun when I was 12 and it shot accurate for years and years they sell for about $35. @ Wally-Mart
EDIT: Get BOTH if you can I had a BB gun and 2 Pellet guns and I spent hours out doors getting exercise and fresh air and all the guns/ammo cost less than the price of 2 video games!!!

In NJ you need a permit. In some cities or counties you need a permit. I don’t think you will have any problem in MA. Please be safe and do it under the supervision of an adult.
I just recently discovered they’re illegal in NYC. It would never have crossed my mind that any legislature in the US would see a Red Ryder as dangerous enough to restrict. I’m afraid you’ll have to get an answer from somebody local with expertise in the field.

It really depends on where you are. In Alberta, you need a firearms acquisition license for any thing over 500 fps. I’d check with the Walmart sporting goods department to find out what policies and regulations are in place, they would know.
