Yes you need a license from the BATF for selling ammo. You don’t want to be caught selling the ammo without a license. You can go to their website and read up on what you need to do. BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms)
I have made up some rounds for friends, but I tell them to supply me with the components and I would load them for them…no charge.
wvhunter told you straight. If you are going to sell..yes..just for firends that supply you no..
Not how I was raised, but i wouldn’t try to make a business out of it or anything…between friends it’s very acceptable.
If you’re loading and selling, I believe you need an FFL 06…
Nothing wrong with that as long as you know what you’re doing. Lots of larger ammo companies started out small, and there are plenty of smaller local ammo-remanufacturers all over the country.
I`m not sure you need an FFL,but you do need a manufacturers license. Like WV hunter said contact the BATFE for your info on it.
You need a class 6 (I think) FFL. If you selling the ammo as a buisness. If this is just a side thing then I doubt it but this still warrants a call to BAFTE.
Thing is most people tend to avoid reloaded ammo that isn’t a brand. You don’t know what your getting and most people are not that brave to put in something that will probably wreck the gun. Tjing is do you know what your doing?
Reloading (manufacturing) ammo or importing ammo requires a federal license.
You may load/reload ammo for yourself without need of said license.
Loading for your friends who SUPPLY the components is a gray area.
Loading for friends who PAY FOR the components is a no-no!
Even if you "sell" it at cost or at a loss it is still "selling" and that requires a federal manufacturer’s license and possibly a state dealer’s license.
There is no federal license required to sell ammo although some states, like NJ, do require one.
.
A license to sell it? No. To sell it legally? Yes.
