i just got the papers, it seems to say if i dont have a hunting license i cant get a ffl 03 is that correct?
anyone other than jackasses on here? have you seen the paper?
i should add its the Curio And Relics FFL 03. i don’t have it in front of me right now,i will update when i do. it asks for your hunting license number, and seemed to be worded if you didn’t have one you could not get the ffl 03
its under question #10,asking about non resident alien. so i guess it only applies if you are one.

FFL 03 has nothing to do with hunting, only collecting older firearms. Why would you need a hunting license? You need to read it a little more carefully. I am sure that you will not see the work hunting on the paper work anywhere, just like the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Are we talking the same thing? FFL 03 is a federal firearms license to selll NFA restricted devices like machine guns and suppressors?
Only people in the business of selling machine guns and suppressors need a Class 3. If you simply want to buy a machine gun or suppressor – you find a Class 3 dealer, buy the item, and submit the transfer on a NFA Form 4 with $200 tax for each item.
Unless you are already an established FFL 01 dealer with gross receipts in excess of $760,000 you are not gonna get an FFL 03 approved. This would be lucky for you. Because if they did approve your FFL 03 and after three years you did not have an average gross receipts to make it appear you are a full time dealer and not a hobbiest – they will pull the license. That means you will instantly have to pay $200 tax on everything you have registered to you. And – if you have collected any ‘dealer samples’ of machine guns you will have to instantly give them to another dealer. You can lose allot money having to give away dealer samples you paid $4500 or more each for.
FFL has nothing to do with hunting – and – everything to do with being a professional dealer of restricted devices.
