-Automatic weapons are not freely available
-An "armor piercing bullet" is pretty much any rifle round used for hunting
-The "gun-show loophole" refers to individual to individual firearms sales ONLY…much like selling a used car
-In almost all states you be licensed to carry concealed and things have not turned into the wild west
Do misconceptions like these lead to people favor increased restrictions?
edit-"glenn b" your right about the technical definition of "armor piercing", what I was talking about is when the Brady campaign gets on TV and talks about assault weapons referencing "police are outgunned" because they can shoot through doors and vests…even when rifles are used in less than 5 percent of all gun crimes.
Hunting, shooting and target practise are some of the most popular pastimes in the USA, but make that you learn all about the rules and regulations regarding firearms and their safe use.

Yep- the media calls anything and everything an "assault weapon" a gun with a lighter stock on it… or a "high-power rifle, like snipers use" (almost any standard rifle).
a .22 can be "like an assassin might use"
a 9mm can be "like the military or para-military groups use"
they twist everything to make it sound evil- when it’s the people who are good or bad, not the guns.
Hammers are evil because you could hit someone with one…nevermind using it to build a house! /sarcasm.
We couldn’t build our nation without guns, and we won’t keep it without them as well. Sure the founding fathers didn’t see semi-autos, or even autos, but they’d think citizens should have them to protect themselves from criminals and tyrants! Bad people will always find a way to try to hurt others, but guns give people a fighting chance to defend themselves on a more level field.
ignorance and the media.
Yeah, people are uneducated on gun matters so they cry for more restrictions.
-Automatic weapons are going to be at least 20 years old and cost more than 10k IF you can find one.
-There are only two states that don’t require a license to carry concealed. I know Alaska in one and I think Vermont is the other.
I don’t think so. Most anti-gun advocates know the laws. They just don’t like them.
Some people have always feared the true cost of freedom.
"Quemadmoeum gladis nemeinum occidit,
occidentis telum _est" ("A sword is never a killer, it’s a tool in the killer’s hands")
Lucius Annaeus Seneca "the younger" ca. (4 BC – 65 AD)
"And they are ignorant that the purpose of the sword is to save every man from slavery."
Marcus Annaeus Lucanus Roman poet (A.D. 39-65)
"It is also in the interests of a tyrant to keep his people poor, so that they may not be able to afford the cost of protecting themselves by arms and be so occupied with their daily tasks that they have no time for rebellion."
Aristotle
First a armor piercing bullet is a round devised to penetrate body armor or light armor vehicles or light tanks they are filled with a heavy core like hardened steel, tungsten carbide or the heaviest depleted uranium and the weapons that fires these rounds are coated with a teflon material to keep the projectile from destroying the barrel of the weapon .most hunting rounds are hollow point with soft copper and lead with a steel stud made to do as much damage to a soft target as possible .And a military /NATO round is usually a full metal jacket copper with a lead core it is not made to deform when it hits a soft target.Instead it is made to punch straight through doing as little damage as possible. Now with all that said can anyone tell me a law that will keep a person from getting a gun if they really want one. I DID NOT THINK SO!
I would say the tension comes from the fact that about the only time urban people hear about guns is when thaeyre associated with robberies or crimes of violence
I would guess less than 1% of the time when guns are not used in hunting they are used in defense of self or property.
And handguns are not used for hunting- yet by an enormous margin I would bet they are the types of gun purchased.
So it seems reasonable that would mean there is a glut of guns floating around- which seems to be validated when there are these govt gun buy-back programs (which are typically "no questions asked" which also makes one wonder- why would such a clause need inclusion?) which always seem quite popular- they’re on the news usually it seems
and since they’re legal and available ANYWAY why do people make such a big deal of the issue? Is it because gun wackos’ dicks don’t get any bigger regardless of how many they own or how much they thump their chests about them? (gun *wackos*, mind you, not gun *owners*)
if republicans really wanted to rally behind a gov’t intrusion civil rights issue it seems they would really rally behind the likes of Ron Paul and get marijuana prohibition lifted (although I’m not too keen on his stance of across the board legalization of man-made/augmented controlled substances- otherwise why not legalize anthrax? Not a good idea)
